For adult men, the daily need for ALA omega-3 fatty acids is 1,600 mg and for adult women the daily need is 1,100 mg of ALA omega-3 fatty acids. Only one spoon of flaxseed oil can exceed your need for ALA. Omega-3 fatty acids are very beneficial for health and it is good for reducing inflammation, improves hearth health and protects the brain against aging.

The researches with the test tubes and animal studies showed that flaxseed oil may help reduce the growth of cancer cells. In one of the animal studies, they gave 0.3 ml of flaxseed oil to mice for 40 days. Then, the conclusion was that it prevented the spread of cancer and the growth of long tumors. In another study with rats, flaxseed oil blocked the formation of colon cancer. The studies with Test-tubes have also concluded similar findings, this showed that flaxseed oil reduced the growth of breast cancer cells. But, still we need for more research and information on humans.
Some researches with flaxseed oil showed that, this oil improve heart health. Because, it can reduce blood pressure and increase the elasticity of the arteries. In one study, 59 people took one spoon flaxseed oil for 12 weeks. Then the conclusion was lower blood pressure levels. High blood pressure is dangerous for heart, so low blood pressure is good for hearth health. With aging and high blood pressure, the elasticity of the arteries decreases. But flaxseed oil help to increase the elasticity of the arteries.
4)It is good for Constipation and Diarrhea
Flaxseed oil also can be used for treating constipation and diarrhea. A study on animals showed that, flaxseed oil has an effect as laxative to promote regularity. In another study, they gave 50 constipated patients on hemodialysis flaxseed oil. After four weeks, flaxseed oil increased the frequency of bowel movements and improved stool consistency.

Flaxseed oil can be used as a skin care product. It moisturizes skin and decreases the irritation on skin. In a small study with 13 women, they used flaxseed oil for 12 weeks. At the end of the study, they experienced improvements in skin smoothness and hydration, while skin sensitivity to irritation and roughness had decreased. A recent animal study showed that flaxseed oil had similar positive results. Mice with dermatitis were given flaxseed oil for three weeks. This oil decreased the symptoms of atopic dermatitis, such as redness, swelling and itching. Also, it can be used in treatment of eczema.
Flaxseed oil can decrease the effects of inflammation, because of the omega-3 fatty acids in its content. Some research showed that flaxseed oil helps reducing inflammation. An animal study found that flaxseed oil has some anti-inflammatory properties. Some studies indicate that flaxseed oil’s anti-inflammatory effects are equivalent to those of olive oil.
